High Calcium Smoothie

by Jill Harris on Aug 18, 2020

Use this smoothie as your template and as a way to get added calcium into your diet.

If you are a diabetic or are on a low carb diet, you may not want to use bananas as your fruit. Remember, your lifestyle, your choice. Use any other low oxalate fruit(s) you like. I choose bananas because the kefir is tart and the bananas really sweeten it up.

I also like a lot of ice as it makes for a thick smoothie. If you don’t, use less!

I’m lactose intolerant and use Trader Joe’s non-fat, plain, kefir or Lifeway plain, non-fat, kefir. Both taste great and this smoothie never bothers my stomach. You can use any brand you have available but look for the higher calcium option.

If you don’t do dairy, use a non-dairy, high calcium fluid.

I thought bananas were a no no, that is what I was told by a nutritionist years ago. What can I eat for breakfast? Thank you for all of your information. You are awesome!
