If you don’t know, I have a private Facebook group for kidney stone formers, and I want to share a recent post from there.
Oftentimes, I’ll write what has become known as a “Jill rant.” These “rants” typically come after having YET ANOTHER person tell me how they’ve wasted hundreds of dollars on the latest “quick fix” solution the diet industry said would help them. These rants of love are sometimes what we need to get a bit more serious about starting or sticking to our healthy lifestyle. I hope you find value in this.

Please know that your liver and your kidneys detoxify your body. That’s what those organs do. Don’t listen to any social media bulldoo influencer telling you that you’re detoxifying your body by drinking tea. If you want to detoxify your body, eat well so those organs can do what they were meant to do.
I can’t stress to you enough how losing weight, preventing kidney stones, and doing your best to keep disease at bay requires hard work. Let me clarify what hard work means.
First, in means changing your attitude about what it means to live a healthy lifestyle.
Second, it means not taking your body for granted for one more day and doing your very best to nourish it with healthy foods within normal—and I stress the word normal—portion sizes.
Third, it means exercising and moving your body in order to stay strong and flexible. People always ask me how I boost my metabolism. Increasing your muscle mass will increase your metabolism. That is why men lose weight faster than women. But, before we do any of this, we must change our attitude.
Don’t tell yourself that you can’t do this. As you can see, thousands of my patients DO do this every single day because they changed their attitude about healthy living. The horrible pain of kidney stones also helps to push one down the path to health too. Pain is a powerful motivator.
While working at the University Of Chicago and dealing with very sick people in beds, I decided I wanted to dedicate my career to keeping people out of beds, so I changed my path. It’s been hugely rewarding. But if you don’t listen to what I’m saying here, you too may wind up in another bed.
People want to sell you junk. Potions and pills and elixirs and snake oils. You take them, and nothing changes. And you think you are the failure. You are not; the diet fails us.
Everyone reading this can become healthier by doing the Kidney Stone Diet, listening to my teachings, and putting in the hard work to get where they want to be. I wish it were easier than that, but then again, why should it be?
God, or whatever you believe in, graced us with this fantastic machine that we use for a whole lifetime here on earth. How dare we take it for granted after all it does for us every single day.
I have seen so many people fight and die throughout my cancer journey. Really good people. One thing they all had in common was they wished they hadn’t taken their bodies for granted.
I’m a pain in the tush with you guys because I want you to succeed and keep disease at bay. You all have the power to do that if you change your mindset and get to work.
Be consistent, be compassionate with yourself, and be flexible because your birthday and Christmas will happen each year, and you’re going to eat some cake. No one cares; you didn’t do anything wrong; you just ate some freaking cake. Move on and make a healthy choice for your next meal. Not next week and not next month—now. This is how we stay on the road to health.
I’m here to do anything I can, and I won’t stop screaming and hollering and hooting it up until I get you on board with taking care of yourself because you deserve it. And it’s simple—it’s just hard to do.
If you are impatient and want to get there as quickly as you can, think about taking my Kidney Stone Prevention Course of mine. It’s currently $40 off, people. I’m giving it away.
